Invitation to contractors to learn about Bolsover Town Centre Shopfront Improvement Scheme

Friday 25 Sep 2026

Contractors are being invited to find out more about how they can get involved in a town centre regeneration scheme.

Bolsover District Council invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to attend a Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) Event for the Bolsover Town Centre Shopfront Improvement Scheme.

The proposed scheme involves the repair, restoration, replacement and enhancement of shopfronts within Bolsover Town Centre, which is a designated Conservation Area.

The works will include interventions to a number of Grade II Listed buildings and will form part of the wider Bolsover Regeneration Programme, funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

The total funding allocation for the scheme is £1m with approximately £900,000 allocated to the shopfront improvement works.

The Council is keen to engage with contractors that can demonstrate experience in:

•    Conservation and heritage construction projects
•    Working on listed buildings and within conservation areas
•    Traditional building materials and construction techniques
•    Specialist joinery and shopfront restoration
•    Delivery of high-quality commercial property improvement works
•    Collaborative working with local authorities, conservation officers and other stakeholders

The Preliminary Market Engagement Event will provide an opportunity for contractors to:

•    Have one to one allocated time with the project team
•    Receive an overview of the proposed scheme
•    Meet the appointed architects and project team
•    Take part in a guided tour of Bolsover town centre
•    Gain an understanding of the anticipated scope and scale of works
•    Provide feedback to help inform procurement and delivery options
•    Discuss contractor capacity, capability and market interest in delivering the scheme.

The council anticipates that the project will be delivered in phases, with all works to be completed by March 2028.

This event is being held solely for market engagement purposes and is not part of a formal procurement process. Attendance or participation will not provide any advantage or disadvantage in any future procurement exercise associated with the scheme.

The engagement events take place on Tuesday 29 September and Thursday 1 October, in 90-minute allocated time slots, meeting at the council's Engagement Hub at 8 Cotton Street, Bolsover.

Interested contractors need to register via the Council's e-Tendering Portal.

The deadline for registrations is noon on Monday for the Tuesday 29 September event and noon on Wednesday for the Thursday 1 October event.
